BNCC recently implemented a “smoke free campus” policy, which means people can only smoke in their cars.
Andy’s post pretty much sums up my thoughts on pot.
I mentioned “smoking” in Ethics this week — and my students were quick to ask if my comments applied to cigarettes, pot or both? Soon it became clear to me that some students thought ALL smoking was immoral, which is kind of predictable given social views on tobacco.
I found it fascinating that some students thought smoking pot was morally permissible and smoking cigarettes socially irresponsible. Their reasoning was rather simple, pot smokers tend to do so in private and all but the most unusual ones only use pot like other people use alcohol. So, they conclude that the social costs and impacts of smoking pot are less than those of smoking cigarettes.
