Media vacation reflections…

I missed having my computer connected to the internet…

I didn’t miss TV news at all.  I didn’t miss having the flashing box on in the background… like it is now.

I did miss reading blogs and facebook — mostly because those seem like one-on-one connections to other people.  I like the quirky facebook status updates.  I enjoy seeing my bloggy friends’ views of the world.  Those are the kinds of interactions I missed.

In terms of the news, the big event was the Japanese earthquake.  That is a very sad event and I can understand it without seeing the video.  I can comprehend, as well as anybody can, the impact of the tsunami — and I haven’t seen the pictures.  I’m feeling a lot of compassion without experiencing the disaster porn.
