I’m a person who remembers significant dates… and today was one..

Three  years ago, foreplay turned into the first indication of breast cancer when hubby felt a lump.  By Thursday, I heard the dreaded words, “there’s cancer”.

The cancer was ductal and aggressive — and had hit one lymph node by the time I had my mastectomy a couple of weeks later.  I’d planned to take the summer off to finish my dissertation, instead I had surgery, chemo and went back to school bald in August.

Three years later, things are looking up…. see my next blog post for the way I spent this poliday.

For now — men or women if you feel a lump, get it checked out.  It may be nothing, or it may be something — but not knowing could be deadly… It’s quite likely that if I’d ignored the lump, I’d be in the end of terminal cancer now instead of hanging with Andy.
